CT Opening Day Board

It's spring! Courses are opening across the state as the new season gets under way. Use this board to share information with fellow golfers about courses that are open and conditions you'll find there. Please limit posts to discussions about golf courses only.
Ridgefield GC opened April 1. The course is quite wet, but all tees and greens are open. Greens have been aerated. A new bridge has been built between the 16th and 17th holes. Very impressive.

Crestbrook Park GC in Watertown is open for play. Hop Brook GC in Naugatuck will be open April 3.

Played the Green course at Tunxis Plantation Public GC on Sunday afternoon. Course is in pretty good shape for this early, and with the weather being cold, not many out there. Quick round.

Just played Gillette Ridge GC today on their first day open. Course is in great shape with no temporary greens and with regular tee markers.

Oak Hills Park in Norwalk will open for the season, tee to green, starting Friday, March 21, weather permitting. Finally, spring golf is here!

Pine Valley GC opened today. I officially christened the course for the '08 season at 9 a.m. For now, there are no carts allowed, as it is wet on the back nine. The greens are okay and roll fairly true. Hopefully, more clubs will open for Good Friday if we can keep old man winter at rest.

E. Gaynor Brennan GC in Stamford just reopened most of its greens. Still a couple of temps for now. Carts are available.

Laurel View CC has all tees and greens open, with carts running on the paths only. You'll have an occasional embedded ball in the fairway or rough, but the greens have firmed up pretty well.

Goodwin GC in Hartford opened up its regular 18 today and the flat nine yesterday with all real greens. Course is in decent shape, just wet because of the large amounts of rain and snow.

Laurel View CC reopened today. Wet, but letting carts out on paths only. Greens bumpy but playable. I understand at least one of the 18s at Lyman Orchards is open, too. As long as Mother Nature cooperates...let there be golf!
