CT Golf HeadlinesDavid Polk named new president of First Tee of CT Rocky Hill, CT (Feb. 17, 2010) -- The First Tee of Connecticut is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a new president. Donald Barr, chairman of The First Tee of Connecticut, has announced the appointment of David E. Polk as the president and xxecutive director of The First Tee of Connecticut. He replaces Bruce Wilson, who is retiring after 10 years as the organization's first president and CEO. Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, The First Tee of Connecticut is a statewide youth development organization with a national reputation serving over 50,000 young people annually in life skills development through various golf programs. "On behalf of the board of directors, I am delighted that David will be leading our organization. He brings a wealth of experience, insight and enthusiasm to our programs, and we are confident that he is well prepared to lead the organization to our next phase of excellence," Barr said. Most recently, Polk served for 11 years as vice president of marketing and community relations for Hartford Hospital where he oversaw all business development, advertising, public relations, communications, community involvement and external relations. Prior to this position, Polk was president of Aetna Health Plans of Southern New England and regional vice president for Aetna's Northeast Region. He is also chairman of the board of the Hartford Marathon Foundation, Church Homes Inc., the parent company of Avery Heights, and past chairman of the Nutmeg State Games. Polk is a graduate of Williams College and resides in West Hartford with his wife, Rennie. |
