Rolling Meadows CC in Ellington is open on Thanksgiving. Course is in great shape for this time of year and it the rate is perfect.

What courses are open on thanksgiving?

I play a bunch of courses in northern CT and western MA. Topstone GC is consistently in great shape. I have yet to encounter burnout fairways even in the hottest, driest part of the year. The greens are kept in top shape as well. The course isn’t that long but presents the opportunity to hone your sand trap skills on just about every hole. It’s well worth the $$.

Richter Park GC is in great shape, tee to green!

The Tradition at Oak Lane is the best course I have played this year. The greens are fast, and the staff there is so friendly. Rates are good, too!

Lyman Orchards GC is in very bad shape. Both courses are in shambles. The greens have many bare patches or are extremely shaggy and slow. Some of the cups are damaged and look like they haven't been changed in weeks. The tee boxes are in poor shape as well. The fairways are okay.

Played Lyman Orchards Jones Course yesterday. Besides being a beautiful fall day, the course and greens were perfect. What a nice roll on the greens for a change. Great fall value.

Played Gillette Ridge yesterday. Course was in disappointing shape. Greens were pretty chewed up, but the biggest problem was with the bunkers. Many of them were roped off as "ground under repair" and none of them had any sand, just hard-packed dirt. This used to be one of the best-kept courses in the state. What the heck happened?

Played Portland GC yesterday (Sept. 8). Course is in great shape. Pace of play was very good at just under 4 hours. Nice outdoor grill set up between the 9th and 10th. Excellent conditions, fun day! Will return soon.

Just wondering what kind of shape Gillette Ridge GC is in. Has anyone played there recently? MDM management worries me.

Played Richter Park GC in Danbury today. Course is in great shape! Greens are fantastic. Fairways are in good shape. Bunkers had real sand in them and were raked nicely. Easily one of my favorite courses in CT!

Played Goodwin GC in Hartford today with an online discount I purchased. The course is an embarrassment for whomever manages it. They should close the course for a year to get the greens and tee boxes back in shape (it will take that long).

We played Tower Ridge CC yesterday and it was in the worst condition we've ever seen. The fairways were all brown and looked diseased. However, the greens were decent. Would much rather play Wintonbury Hills. Aways in great shape, and staff is very accommodating!

Played Fairchild Wheeler recently, both the Black and Red courses, and they are, by far, the worst conditioned courses I have ever seen. The fairways are barren, hardpan and/or diseased, and the tee boxes and greens are awful.

The Tradition GC at Wallingford has the best conditions I have played all year. Rates are reasonable, too!

CC Waterbury is rocking. Conditions are incredible! Best I have seen in my 20 years as a member and another 10 as a caddy!

D. Fairchild Wheeler GC is looking great. Stopped there before work and everything looked great. Can't wait until my day off to play there.

Played Goodwin GC in Hartford on April 28. MDM Golf has turned this place into an absolute stinkhole. I have been playing this course for 20 years-plus and have never seen such horrid conditions. Three greens were dead, brown and dirt. Tee boxes with dead grass and ruts. How the city of Hartford allows this guy at MDM to run this course, I have no idea. MDM has ruined what was once a very nice municipal course. I will never go back based on the horrid conditions saw today. Thanks MDM, you should be ashamed of yourself for running this course into the ground.

Played the University Club in Windham for the first time yesterday. Really fun course with super-friendly staff. Good mix of long and short holes. Old-style course with smallish greens and reasonable length. Great clubhouse! Donny and Chuck will make you feel like a member. Highly recommended!

Hello, everyone. This is my first time using this site. Thank you in advance. I was curious if anyone knows of any courses in the Rocky Hill area that have open golf leagues. I'm interested in joining one on a Tuesday or Thursday.

Played Tradition GC at Oak Lane yesterday. Course is in fantastic shape for this time of year! Heck, it's in pretty good shape for prime summer golf! Greens roll true, no aeration marks, fairways and tee boxes are good. Best conditions I've played yet for this year.

Pine Valley GC in Southington opens March 27 for the season.

Looking for a central CT driving range with a season's pass (unlimited balls). Used JD's driving range in the past, but looks like that will be closed this year.
