Clearly, the hardest course in CT. Forget the price. I lost 16 balls in the round and I normally lose 2-3, if that. Once the fairway ends, you have 5-10 yards of rough, then you're in the woods. There are no open holes, I repeat, no open holes. Beautiful course, but your driving game better be on and straight.

The North Course at Lake of Isles GC is an impressive layout and is nicely maintained. The views are beautiful, and extremely picturesque in autumn. This course deserves its high praise. However, many players find fault with the tees. The Silver tees are very playable, but they shorten the course too much. The Gold tees provide a nice overall length to the course, but some carries from the tees are huge. For example, the 17th hole demanded a 235-yard carry to clear the water hazard on my recent round. That was followed by a 225-yard carry on the 18th. Meanwhile, the Silver tees were playing about 75 yards shorter on each of those holes. A couple of the par-4 holes are short even from the back tees, but the par-3s are tests from any tee. In fact, par can feel like an escape on any of the par-3s. Everyone should play Lake of Isles at least once, but you might not want it for your regular play.
